Training For All Members
The BAC Local #3 NY Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee, (JATC), has an extensive, NY State approved apprentice trainging program that is unequaled by the non-union sectar of the construction industry! Additionally, we believe Life is a continuous learning process and the same holds true for job skills.
That's why the JATC offers cross training for BAC Journeyman! In todays work environment, knowledge, training and skills translate into work hours for the BAC member. To find out more about available training and schedules, contact your local JATC coordinator today!
In addition, safety is a big part of any construction trade. BAC Local #3 NY has NY State certified OSHA trainers and holds regular OSHA training throughout the year. For the upcoming 10 hour or 30 hour OSHA classes see the schedule at the bottom of this page.
Apprentice Training
The BAC Local #3 NY JATC holds several sessions early each year in each of our training facilities throughout Western NY. Classes are held in the months of January, February and March. Apprentices attend classes weekdays, Monday thru Friday, from 7:00am to 4:30pm. A detailed schedule for each area is located at the bottom of this page.
Each Apprentice is required to complete a minimum of 160 hours of school and 1,500 hours of work advancement to the next level(advancement levels vary by trade). Dues must be paid up-to-date, the blue book (work hours log) must be up to date and a clean drug record is required each year for upgrades.
Once an Apprentice completes the four-year Apprenticeship Program, he or she will qualify for a Journeyman position as a Bricklayer, Cement finisher, Pointer Caulker or Tilesetter.
